I set up Scot Free Tours in 2016 to challenge people’s perceptions of Aberdeen by telling them lesser-known stories of the city. I started guiding when I was a student at the University of Edinburgh and when I returned home to Aberdeen I was looking for a way to keep doing tours. In the end, I decided the best thing to do was to set up my own business.
My guiding style is irreverent and I like to focus on the stories of individuals - preferably the funny, gruesome or unexpected bits.

I am originally from California and first came to Aberdeen in 1984 with the oil industry. The oil field brought me to the Granite City a further two times, with the last stint lasting from 1995 until now. I retired about 10 years ago and began doing guided tours for friends and family for my health and enjoyment. I discovered Scot Free Tours in summer 2018 and having been working there ever since, creating the Craft Beer Tour and Old(er) Aberdeen: Free Tour of Aberdeen’s Historic Centre.
With oil, I have lived and worked in over 50 countries. With Scot Free Tours I get to meet people from all over the world; many from countries that I know.

I fell in love with Scotland as soon as I moved to Aberdeen in 2021. I love discovering Scottish history and unearthing all the great, long forgotten stories of Aberdonians and their Granite City - so much so that I even developed a new tour for SFT: Fiends for Life.
My very first job tour guiding was dressed as a Victorian housemaid on a huge country estate. I then moved to London to work as a Host at Kensington Palace where I gained a wealth of knowledge in royal history, public speaking and presenting.
Nowadays, you can find me leading talks and tours on Aberdeen’s best loved collections and artefacts in the city’s gallery and museums.

I am originally from Georgia in the southern US. I moved to Aberdeen in 2016 to complete a Master's degree in Irish and Scottish Studies with the University of Aberdeen. I am now finishing up a PhD at Aberdeen looking at the history of the brewing industry in the city. I joined Scot Free Tours as a guide in 2023 and love getting to share my knowledge of Aberdeen's history.

I'm a Canadian from Nova Scotia (yes, Latin pros, that mean "New Scotland")! I've lived around the world (including three years in Tokyo), and I've fallen in love with my newest stomping grounds, Aberdeen. (Huge fan of classic new wave, so of course it's a thrill to live in Annie Lennox's hometown!) As the "rookie" on the Scot Free Tours team, I quickly discovered that the Granite City's centuries of history include some truly jaw-dropping tales. I hope you'll seek them out and come join me on a tour!
